Karrie Webb Interview

The seven-time Major winner reflects on her long career, the women’s game and an 11-year-old teeing it up at the US Women’s Open

Magnificent Seven - Webb’s Major Wins

• Webb turned professional in 1994, and made history the following year when she won the Weetabix Women’s British Open as a 20-year-old in her rookie season on the Ladies European Tour.

• In 1996, after coming through the qualifying school with a broken bone in her wrist, she won four LPGA Tour events and became the first person to pass the US$1 million mark for a single season’s earnings.

• In 2000, she won the Nabisco Championship and the US Women’s Open - her second and third Majors - then added two more next year at the McDonald’s LPGA Championship and the US Women’s Open. She then won the 2002 Women’s British Open (an LPGA Tour Major since 2001) to complete the career Grand Slam at 27.

• In the 2006 Kraft Nabisco Championship, she holed out from 116 yards for eagle on the 18th hole, then birdied it in the subsequent play-off to defeat Lorena Ochoa and claim her seventh Major Championship.
