Final Shot with Dominic Wall

The R&A’s Hong Kong-based director for the Asia-Pacific region talks to Alex Jenkins about how he was introduced to the game, his favourite courses and who he would have in his dream fourball

Do you have a favourite course? ‎

It is difficult to single out any one course but internationally my favourites include the Old Course, Muirfield and Augusta National; in Australia, Royal Melbourne, New South Wales and Kingston Heath; and in Asia I really enjoy playing Danang Golf Club in Vietnam and Trinity Country Club in Korea. I also enjoy all the courses in Hong Kong as they offered a very good variety styles and challenges.

Who would be in your dream fourball?

Old Tom Morris - it would be great to see how he played the game with the equipment ‎from his time; Seve Ballesteros - to see the flare and imagination he brought to shot making; and Greg Norman - to see him go head-to-head with Seve.

What has been your most memorable moment on a golf course?‎

An almost-hole-in-one on the eighth hole at Royal Troon, otherwise known as the ‘Postage Stamp’, with a lip-out that finished on the edge without dropping. I was also very fortunate to play Augusta National the Monday after Phil Mickelson won the Masters Tournament in 2010. The weather was perfect, the course sensational, the company great - and I managed an 82. I missed three-foot birdie putts on the ninth and 16th but fortunately holed the five-foot returns!
