Matthew Cheung leads charge in U.C. Ferguson Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY, 7 Sept 2016, (HK Golfer News Wire) - Cheung held third place, and Rupert Kaminski tied for fourth for OCU, ranked No. 1 in NAIA men's golf. The Stars posted a 277-272–549 to trail Odessa (Texas) by two shots.

OCU stood nine strokes in front of third-ranked Texas Wesleyan. Cheung, a senior from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, carded a 68-65–133 to be four shots off the pace. Cheung buried three eagles Tuesday – two on the par-4, 377-yard 11th hole and another on the par-5, 522-yard 16th hole during the second round.

OCU's David Meyers turned in a 71-68–139 to be knotted for ninth. Meyers, a freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa, led the Stars with nine birdies Tuesday. Garrison Mendoza supplied the Stars with a 68-73–141. Mendoza, a junior from Clinton, Okla., knocked in eight birdies.

Peri'Don Castille, a freshman from Dallas, contributed a 70-75–145 to Oklahoma City. Playing as an individual, Wyatt Robson, a senior from Ada, Okla., produced a 70-73–143 to tie for 17th.

The final round of the tournament begins 8:30 a.m. Wednesday (U.S. time) in a shotgun start.
