Counting Down

The second part of our preview of Watches&Wonders presents nine special timepieces that will be presented at Hong Kong’s premier horological exhibition

The Lange 1 from A. Lange & Söhne

What are the keys to understanding the centuries of expertise that come together in a Fine Watch? Opening September 30th, Watches&Wonders has the answer. The exhibiting Maisons will travel to Hong Kong with some of the most prestigious collections of technical and precious watches. In last month’s issue we presented timepieces from Cartier, Piaget and Vacheron Constantin. Here we highlight the nine remaining brands that will be featured.

A. Lange & Söhne - The LANGE 1

The LANGE 1 has been the face of A. Lange & Söhne since 1994. Now, the new edition of the successful model has been endowed with a technically evolved manually wound calibre with the number L121.1 – the 50th in the brand’s portfolio of in-house movements. The inimitable design, such as the familiar asymmetric dial, outsize date display and the power reserve indicator, are preserved. A slightly narrower bezel is the only visible hint of a modification. It adds openness to the face of the watch despite its unchanged diameter of 38.5 millimetres.

Baume & Mercier - Classima Men Automatic

This timeless two-tone Classima with its 40 mm-diameter case features a silver-colored dial with line guilloché décor, while the gilt shade of the Roman numerals, indexes and hands reinforces the warm nature of this elegant timepiece. Like the other models in this collection, this reference is driven by a Swiss Made mechanical self-winding movement of which the oscillating weight – engraved with the Greek letter “Phi”, the Baume & Mercier logo and a symbol of equilibrium – is visible through the sapphire crystal case back.
