Leung and Leong take road To MercedesTrophy

Derik Leung and Leong Kuo-Wa have secured their spots in the prestigious MercedesTrophy Hong Kong 2015 with victory in the HKGA Spring Tournament at Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club

HONG KONG, 3 March 2015(HK Golfer News Wire) - Leung carded 31 points to beat three challengers by only one point in a tightly contested Men’s Gross Stableford division while Leong clinched the Ladies’ Gross Stableford division with 25 points. Leung and Leong will now line up in the MercedesTrophy Hong Kong at Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling on Friday 26 June.

The winners of the Nett Stableford division, Gordon Mak on 45 points and Winnie Yim on 40 also qualify for Fanling where they will be only one step away from advancing to the MercedesTrophy Asian Final on Australia’s Gold Coast in August. From there, the leading Hong Kong player has an opportunity to be invited to October’s MercedesTrophy World Final in Germany.

In total, 39 players from the ever-popular HKGA Spring Tournament at Clearwater Bay qualified for the MercedesTrophy Hong Kong at Hong Kong Golf Club on 26 June.

As part of the ‘Road to the MercedesTrophy Hong Kong 2015’, the leading competitors from two more Hong Kong Golf Association events will also qualify for Fanling: the Hong Kong Seniors’ Close Championship at Discovery Bay Golf Club on May 6-8 and the HKGA Mid-Summer Classic Tournament at Hong Kong Golf Club on June 15-16.
