HONG KONG, 1 Feb 2016, (HK Golfer News Wire) - Brad Schadewitz, the national coach of the Hong Kong Golf Association, reflects on a successful 2015 and previews an exciting Year of the Monkey.

Q: 2015 was a great year for Hong Kong golf, from Queen Sirikit Cup, Hong Kong Ladies Open, to Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and the UBS Hong Kong Open. You and the team must have learned a lot through these tournaments.

A: It was a busy year no doubt. We had the Queen Sirikit Cup in Fanling, which is essentially our home course. The girls did well and fought hard.

Hosting the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at Clearwater Bay was a great experience. Matthew Cheung performed outstandingly with a 64 in the second round.

Q: We must mention Leon D’Souza – he won multiple tournaments last year. What is the key to his good results?

A: One of the things we try to emphasize with him is playing more, and getting less technical. The plan pays off as he shows consistency in his game.

Q: I am sure the Junior Squad will continue to improve this year. Could you share with us the game plan for the team this year?

A: Our fitness training programme has been bearing its fruit. The younger kids are getting stronger and are able to play 18 holes. As for the 16- to 18-year-old team members, we will continue to explore college options for them. We want to keep golf and education together.

Tiffany Chan is playing more pro events. Leon D’Souza finished in a tie for fourth at the Ageas HKPGA Championship just last month. We will get our top players into as many big events as we can.
