How to Drive it Long

Spain's Rafael Cabrera-Bello, currently No 28 in the Official Golf World Ranking, explains how to get the most yardage out of your swing

Accelerate at the End

Don’t try to hit it hard from the top of the backswing as that’s a big power killer. Many amateurs try to swing really fast with the arms from the top, but this will destroy your synchronisation. Instead, you need to make a powerful coil in the backswing and then let the club drop straight down. I would suggest only trying to inject more speed halfway through the downswing. Before that, try to make a full coil, then feel the weight transferring from the right side of the body to the left side. Only accelerate your arms at the very end.
