Liu, who is a former Hong Kong Close Mid-Amateur champion and SAR international, is president and head coach of the Association and held a press conference at Asia Golf Club in Cheung Sha Wan to outline his aims for encouraging visually impaired Hong Kong people to take up the sport. "Golf is a wonderful way to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air and green surrounds. It's a healthy activity," he said. "The AIGA is Hong Kong's first and only non-profit organization that provides golf instruction to the visually impaired. I hope to be able to train a group of outstanding athletes that can one day represent Hong Kong and participate in international competitions."

To that end, Liu and a team of volunteers and sponsors, including Johnny Wong of MacGregor golf, have already taken a number of visually impaired beginners to play at Kau Sai Chau and have arranged a charity golf tournament to be played at Palm Island Resort across the border in Guangdong on October 5 to help raise funds. For those interested in taking part in the event, please contact Gavin Ng at Golf 007, the official organizers of the charity tournament, on 2137-2063 or you can contact the AIGA directly on 2873-2733.
